Sinmisola Ogunyinka and Family

RW: What does writing mean to you?

SO:  Lol. Writing is my career. I went back to do a 4-year online study for it. But before it became a career, it was a hobby, then it became a passion. So now, I'm building a career in what I first enjoyed doing for free.

RW: People get inspiration from various things but tell us What inspires your writing ?

SO: That's a tough question, you know. Inspiration for me comes first from determination. But when it comes to how I get my unique stories, that's totally from God. The ideas come, and I write. Of course as a trained writer, I also know how to create twists, and so on.

RW: Most writers reveal their experiences through their work. What novel truly expresses you and in what areas?

SO: Funny enough, I've not been able to use my personal experiences in any one novel. I've used snippets here and there. For instance, I went to a boarding school, and the school setting in Frail Flesh school was from that.

RW: As a writer it is most important to have a laid out vision. What would you say your vision is in terms of your writing career and how has it helped you?

SO: My vision is to become a voice to young people, and to women all over the world. To achieve that, I have set out a goal to stretch my ability in writing. I want to write a thousand books translated into at least 200 languages, before I die. Having this in view, I write. I have calculated the number of books I need to write if God will bless me with a certain number of years. When I see how so far from my goal I am, I kill sleep, or laziness, and write!!!

RW: Do you have authors whose work you admire and what has been their influence and contribution to your writing?

SO: Yes I have a few authors I admire their work both Christian and Secular. For Christian Writers, I love Frank Peretti, Francine Rivers and I've been mentored personally by Diann Mills, and Jerry B. Jenkins. Awesome writers.
For secular writers I like Linda Howard, Sandra Brown, John Grisham, David Baldacci
Definitely, their works influence my pattern. In fact, I'm writing a book now and it's almost purely Diann Mills. Lol

RW: What has been your major challenge as a writer?

SO:  My main challenge is marketing and sales. I can write till tomorrow, but to market my book, problem.

RW: What inspired your most recent novel "The Days After That Night"?

SO: The Days after that Night is a wonder, even to me. I do like to write about contemporary controversies and one day, I just thought of it. In Africa, childlessness is a big issue. What if a deacon is forced to marry a second wife to have children? Gbam! I wrote everyday for two full months!!!
I had never done that before for any novel. I love the book so much, I mean, I'm reading it again presently.

RW: I can't seem to get my eyes off the novel too. Sometime ago pleasant pictures produced a movie " Red Hot" directed by Teco Benson starring Uti Nwachukwu, Bukky Wright, Akin Lewis and bimbo Manuel I must say it was really hot. Do you intend to go into the entertainment industry?

SO: Yes. In fact right now, I'm sourcing for funding for a feature movie of The Days after that Night, and my other novel, Scent of Water. Amongst other ongoing projects.

RW: I personally would be looking out to grab my copy. So tell us how do you describe your writing style? And who are your target audience?

SO: I like writing simple, easy-to-read books. My main target is adult, Christian readers. Particularly women, Young women too.

RW: What should your fan base, keen followers be expecting from you in terms of new novels etc?

SO: I blog almost every day on www.sinmisolao.wordpress.com. And I do mainly stories. I'm working on new titles in my True Dream series - classic romance, and also the book I mentioned earlier that's patterned a bit after my mentor. The working title is Blue Dawn. I'm also working on a Young Adult novel, working title is Under a Red Delta Sun. For real, I'm working on like six books now. Lol.

RW: Finally we always give our readers inside stories which is exclusive to them. So please tell us something the readers don't know about you or an update on what to anticipate on your blog?

SO: For my blog, I'm working on two books for the series; Freely, which is about the rural pastor thrown into an international conspiracy, and Diary of a Strange woman, a story of a mistress.

RW: Thank you very much for this opportunity

SO: Thanks for having me on your blog. I wish you the best.
